Carpal Tunnel Syndrome...in Pregnancy???

For about a week now I have been waking-up with really sore wrist, mostly hurting when I move my thumbs.  As first I just thought I had slept weird, but now that it has been re-occurring for a week I figured it was something else.  I checked online and according to mayoclinc.com  .....

Pregnancy
Some women develop carpal tunnel in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, in part because of hormonal changes. Shifts in the balance of estrogen and progesterone cause the body to retain more fluid, which increases swelling in the carpal tunnel.

According to a few other sites, the carpal tunnel soreness usually disappears after the baby is born.

Who would have thought????

Favorites

One of my favorite verses right now is Psalm 62:8

"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us."

This verse is a reminder to me that God wants to be in communion with me and wants to hear about the joys, struggles, and sorrows of my daily life...He wants to hear about whatever is on my heart.  No matter how big or small something seems I can pour out my heart before Him, trust Him, and He will be my refuge.

One of my favorite songs right now is "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say"

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto Me and rest;
Lay down, thou weary one, lay down Thy head upon My breast.”
I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad;
I found in Him a resting place, and He has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give
The living water; thirsty one, stoop down, and drink, and live.”
I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life giving stream;
My thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in Him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s Light;
Look unto Me, thy morn shall rise, and all thy day be bright.”
I looked to Jesus, and I found in Him my Star, my Sun;
And in that light of life I’ll walk, till traveling days are done.

I have been listening to my RUF cd from Mexico in my car lately and this has become one of my favorites.  The version I listen to is slightly different, because it is in Spanish, but I just love the lyrics and the way that Jesus invites us to come to Him as we are, to rest, to trust, and to be revived.

Night Out on the Town

Friday evening I went out with my mom and Sarah!  We went to "Downtown after 5" where there is music and food, then we ate dinner at Salsas.  We shared Chicken Enchiladas and a Mocajete (which is the stone "pot" the food is served in).  And them we went to Elaine's Bar in the Grove Park Inn to see the dueling pianos.  The pianist play and sing ANY song you request and you can clap and sing along.  They are very lively and talk a lot to the crowd.  It's quite an impressive show!  We all had a fun time.  And my mom is going to K.I.L.L. me for one of the pictures below but it just shows how much fun we were having!!!

Irresistable!

My mom and I saw these in Mast General Store and could not help it!  I mean, seriously, could something be any cuter???  They will fit BG sometime around 9-12 months.

Grandmother's 85th Birthday

We celebrated my Grandmother Helen's 85th birthday this Saturday, August 20th at the home of my Aunt Becky and Uncle Tommy.  We ate BBQ with the appropriate fixings and sides (a family favorite), ate YUMMY desserts made by Aunt Sheri, shared our favorite qualities and memories about Helen, and she shared stories and facts about her past and life growing-up.  It was a special party!  We love you and are thankful for you Grandmother!

Baby Shower at Caroline's House

I like to call this my "friends shower".  It was SO fun to have a baby shower with about 8 friends from high school (some even from elementary school) in attendance.  My friends were great to shower me with lots of fun company and gifts for BG.  Caroline hosted the shower and had everything to a "T"!!!! I was SO impressed.  Also, she and Amanda planned lots of fun games.  There was a "guess the weight and birthday of BG" wall, "guess the measurement of my belly with ribbon" game, some baby trivia games, and we all had on necklaces and if we said the work "baby" someone else could take our necklace (the goal was to have the most necklaces at the end).  I had so much fun and the food was so yummy!  I am thankful for all their hard work and preparation that  made me feel so special.

Doggie, Doggie, Where's your bone???

Eleanor Roosevelt (aka: Ellie) get bones from our neighbor about everyday.  She LOVES to bring them home, show them off very proudly, and then guard them.  Last week she brought home a MEGA bone.  You can see below how we like to tease her (dad) and she will even growl if she thinks you are going to take her bone away.  Silly dog!

Maternity Pictures- 36 Weeks

My friend Amanda went and did a maternity "photo-shoot" with me.  Below are some of the pics!

36 Week OBGYN appointment

Today I had my 36 week appointment.

-I have only gained 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks (way better then my "gainage" last time, haha)
-I am 1.5 cm dilated (which doesn't really mean a whole lot at this point, but hey, I'm getting somewhere)

I am actually feeling just as good, if not better, when I run than last month and I seem to sleep better than I did last month.  I'm not sure if I'm just getting use to things or what... but I'm not complaining. :)

Benefits

I have been volunteering at a pregnancy support center.  There is an ultrasound machine there and the nurses decided they wanted to see BG, so today I benefited and had my 7th ultrasound.  BG weighs (based on head, femur, and abdominal measurements...so, give or take) 5lbs 11oz.  In the center they normally do ultrasounds on women who are only 7-10 weeks pregnant so they had to change all the settings on the machine to see BG at 36 weeks.  They had so much fun looking at such a developed baby!

New Running Clothes

Running has become pretty consistent.  It's still pretty hard, but I think I am use to the hard.  I have, however, been having some really bad shin-splints.  I think this is because my running form is so awful right now.  With all the extra weigh in one spot, and my "forced" run stance (since it does not feel so natural anymore with the weight in front), I am running with really bad form which causes my shins to hurt.  I have been trying to run on the parkway trails which seems to help.  Anyway, since other than my shin problems, running is still doable and some what enjoyable, so my mom convinced me to give in and buy a new running outfit.  Because I had grown I was really uncomfortable in all my running attire, but didn't really want to buy something I would use for just one month.  But I'm SO glad I did.  Also, my mom is going to use this outfit to start her running career this fall!!

I am 35 weeks in these pictures in my new outfit.  I could not decide which picture to use because I look so much bigger in one than the other.  I wonder which one is more accurate???... haha.

Obsession

I LOVE anything hair; hair styles, hair accessories, hair braids, etc.  Part of why I wanted a girl so badly was to do her hair.  So, I love all of the little girl bows and ribbons that are out there, but they are also kind of pricy.  Since my feet/ankles have been getting pretty swollen recently in the evenings several days out of the week I like to use my time wisely and make my own bows while I'm sitting with my feet elevated.  I've been making all headbands because I'm not sure if BG will have any hair when she is born.  I have been given some bows, which I love, but the ones pictured below are the ones I've made.

Sweet Encouragement

A family friend brought me a dozen PINK roses, along with the sweetest card and another gift, all just to celebrate me.  I am so thankful for her love and encouragement, and LOVE the pink roses sitting on our kitchen table.

Thank you, Rose Mills.

Zach's Visit

Zach came to Asheville (first time since Christmas) to visit and to go to Bele Chere.  He brought 7 friends with him.  They all came over to our house on Saturday evening for dinner.  Dad grilled blackened salmon, burgers, corn on the cob, mixed vegetables, and sweet potatoes AND made key lime pies for dessert.  The new gas grill was mom's birthday present this year!  My mom and I also prepared hummas, chips and salsa, watermelon, and pasta salad.  What a meal!!!

Sunday morning, we picked Zach up early and headed to Lenoir where we ate breakfast and visited with Grandmother, CP, Tommy, and Becky.  It was lovely being all together!
